Your attitude is key. Looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, willing to learn, has bags of common sense, and sound judgement in practical matters. You will be confident, able to communicate at all levels, from trades people, sub-contractors, colleagues, the End User / Client, through to professional teams. Able to pick things up quickly and adapt to any given situation.
Ideally you will have a minimum of 4/5 year’s experience in the construction industry. You may come from a trades background, ideally carpentry / joinery. Or have a relevant industry qualification such as an NVQ / Degree in Construction or Commercial Management Or simply be able to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of the construction industry and how a project is delivered. You will have high expectations of yourself, be professional and enjoy being part of a team that provides solutions which meets and exceeds client’s expectations.
You will be assisting and supporting the Small Works Manager in undertaking surveys, preparing costs, involved in applying and co-ordinating permissions for works to be undertaken. Managing and coordinating the works to be carried out by there own Site Manager’s / Supervisors. You will have exposure and will have direct contact with Clients / Designers / Sub-contractors. This is a role for someone who likes to be kept busy and have variety in the type of projects you will be overseeing / managing. It will give you an excellent insight and experience in the full 360 life cycle of a project. Including; Project Management / Commercial Management / Procurement / Costings / Programming. As this division is growing, there will certainly be the opportunity for progression.
There are not many opportunities that will give you such an exposure to all aspects of the delivery of a project. Even though the projects are relatively low in value, they do bring similar challenges of larger scope of works. It is a great opportunity to forge a career with an excellent contractor.
